Lee Jeans and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) Congratulate the Top 25 Denim Day® Teams from 2009 

MERRIAM, Kan.–June 18, 2010–Despite the challenging economy last year, fundraising for Denim Day remained strong in 2009, bringing in more than $4 million from teams nationwide to support the Women’s Cancer Programs of EIF. Today, Lee Jeans and EIF are proud to announce the Top 25 fundraising teams in 2009 and applaud their inspiring efforts that helped lead to the program’s success in 2009. 

“It’s inspiring to see groups around the country come together to help us continue the very important research and support services funded by Denim Day,” said Lisa Paulsen, President of the Entertainment Industry Foundation. “Our hope is that same spirit that drove these 25 incredible teams to success will continue in 2010. We are making tremendous strides in the fight against breast cancer and cannot do it without the efforts of each and every participant.”

Money raised through Denim Day in 2010 will help the Women’s Cancer Programs of EIF to fund:

Lee Translational Laboratories, a collaboration of six of the nation’s leading research institutions to find less toxic, more effective treatments

The EIF Breast Biomarker Discovery Project, a multi-year effort led by world-class scientists to develop a blood test for earlier detection of breast cancer when survival rates are the highest

The Cancer Support Community, an international non-profit dedicated to providing support, education and hope to people affected by cancer in communities nationwide
