How does Lee National Denim Day® work?
Each year, the first Friday in October is designated Lee National Denim Day - a day when supporters nationwide come together to put on their jeans in exchange for a $5 contribution to the fight against breast cancer with the goal of raising millions of dollars in a single day. Initially, the campaign was geared toward those in the workplace, but today anyone can start a team of friends and family and put on their jeans together as an act of solidarity in the fight against breast cancer. Since 1996, nearly $80 million has been raised to fight breast cancer as a result of Denim Day¨.

How is my money used to fight breast cancer?
Net proceeds from Lee National Denim Day will benefit the Women's Cancer Programs of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) to:
- Benefit Lee Laboratories nationwide, which work to find more effective, less toxic treatments for breast cancer and increase patient access to some of the most significant clinical trials in the nation.
- Support a multi-year effort led by world-class scientists to develop a blood test for earlier detection of breast cancer when survival rates are the highest, known as the Breast Cancer Biomarker Discovery Project.
- Helps the Cancer Support Communities provide emotional and social support to those faced with cancer and their families.

Do people have to wear Lee jeans to participate?
No. The Lee National Denim Day campaign seeks to unite supporters while raising much-needed funding for breast and reproductive cancers and raising awareness about the threat of breast cancer and the importance of early detection.
Why did Lee Jeans choose breast cancer as its cause?
After Lee Jeans realized the impact breast cancer had on its employees, the company went straight to its consumers and asked what cause was most important to them. Many worthy causes were discussed, but breast cancer consistently rose to the top. Lee Jeans is very aware of the devastating impact breast cancer has on the men and women diagnosed, as well as their families and friends, and wanted to find a way to support them.
What are the Women's Cancer Programs of EIF?
The Entertainment Industry Foundation's (EIF) Women's Cancer Programs comprise several initiatives, each concentrating on a different aspect of the disease. Our National Women's Cancer Research Alliance focuses on new and more effective approaches to the treatment of women's cancers, while our Women's Cancer Research Fund is dedicated to developing better early detection tests so these cancers can be caught in an early stage, when the cure rate is much higher. For additional questions about EIF's Women's Cancer Programs, visit eifoundation.org or call 800-426-0010.
Lee National Denim Day is a charitable campaign of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) in collaboration with Lee Jeans. EIF is a 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Their Federal Employer Tax ID number is 95- 1644609.
Do employees have to donate $5 to participate?
No, the $5 donation is a suggested amount. Some may want to donate less than $5, while others may be able to donate more. Donations of any amount are appreciated.
My company already has a casual dress code. How can we still participate?
Since many companies observe casual dress codes now, we encourage you to participate by suggesting creative ways to wear denim or suggest everyone wear pink tops and your pink ribbon pin as a show of support. Check out our ideas page for suggestions from other teams across the country.
Can I participate if I am outside the U.S.?
Groups and individuals outside the U.S. are encouraged to participate and contribute. However, in order to help us achieve cost-effectiveness and maximize contributions, we cannot send participation packs to international locations. Instead, check out our event ideas and materials pages to find all the downloadable materials you need to host your own Denim Day. And you can also see what other teams are doing.
Then send your team's contribution in U.S. currency to:
