What are others doing for Lee National Denim Day?
To help jump-start your Denim Day¨ planning, here's a glimpse of what people across the nation are doing to help raise money and make the day special:
"I am from an elementary school in New Jersey. My school has participated in Lee Denim Day for several years. This year I am celebrating 5 years as a breast cancer survivor. My colleagues and I decorated our staff room and a pair of jeans for everyone to sign. It was a great success! I was so grateful and proud of all the friends and colleagues who supported me and this important cause."
-- Laurie Herbst, Waretown Elementary, Waretown, New Jersey
"My junior year of college, I organized Denim Day on my campus. At school, we could already wear jeans so I decided to make tie-dye pink shirts for everyone to wear on Friday. It started off kind of small, and then took off like wild fire! Everyone wanted a shirt, and I was tie-dying left and right, days on end. By Friday, I actually got a little choked up when I walked into a sea of pink and even the leaders at my school were taking part. This event is so meaningful for me. Writing a check never felt so good!"
-- Karina Sweeney, Berean Christian School
"At our dance studio, we asked students to donate during their lessons, donated for purchases that day, and charged for our party which is normally free. I lost my mother to cancer in 2005 so we're planning to participate every year now for this great cause."
-- Carrie Babcock, Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Upper Montclair, New Jersey
